The first week had been tough. No one had ever told either one of them it would be easy. Constant stories from their authority figures of how crying was all they ever heard. But for the first time in a week and a half, Mako woke up to silence, and an empty bed. He looked around the room in search for his wife or possible tracks.

Korra never got up early. NEVER.So he started to worry and assume the worse.

He quietly climbed out of their mattress, and tiptoed to their bedroom door. He quietly opened it, to be greeted with an empty apartment. He still crept with caution as he turned a corner into their living room, to find Korra bundled in a soft blanket, and their daughter snoozing softly in her lap as she sat in front of the giant window showcasing the green grass outside. The sun had yet to rise, and the room was dim. But he could still see Aruna’s chubby snoozing cheeks, and Korra’s relieved smiled.

His expression softened at the sight and quietly made his way over to her. She didn’t notice he was up until he press a soft kiss to her neck. She gently turned to him, and smiled before she kissed his cheek.

"Can I join you?", he whispered.

"Always.", she smiled.

He slid behind her, and embraced her gently. Then he leaned over her shoulder, and gazed at their newborn.

"Do you think she’ll be a water bender?", he whispered softly.

They suspected she was by the blue eyes and..well she looked a lot like Korra.

"I don’t know. Only time will tell. But either way she’ll be brilliant.", she grinned. "And if she’s not a bender, Asami can teach her hair flips."

Mako chuckled a bit, and Korra had to cover his mouth to prevent him from waking the baby.

"You can never be quiet when you need to, can you?", she asked.

"If I was we wouldn’t have a daughter.", he whispered.

Korra rolled her eyes as she leaned back onto his shoulders. Then, Mako glanced down at the child’s fists.

"How’d you get my scarf back?", he asked quietly.

"Your grandma gave it to me at the shower. I wanted to wait til the right time to bring it out.", she explained. "She really likes it."

"I can tell.", he stated. "Maybe it’s the color."

"Or maybe it’s because it smells like you.", she smiled.

"I do smell pretty nice…", Mako joked.

Korra laughed slightly, but not too much to wake the baby.

"I love you Mako.", she said turning up to him.

"I love you more.", he said as he kissed her forehead.

And then he gently pulled the baby closer to both of them.
